Prepare to be captivated by the world premiere of There Will Come Soft Rains, Coro Allegro’s third commission from globally renowned composer Kareem Roustom. Accompanied by solo French horn and string orchestra, this piece sets prose from the Bible and three anti-war poems written four centuries apart to music. The poems by Andreas Gryphius, Annie Fields and Sara Teasdale pose these questions: Why do we fight wars again and again? Do we not realize what is at stake? The program also features a new orchestration of Greg Bullen’s enchanting work, The Orchard, as well as Shawn Kirchner’s uplifting Heavenly Home. Experience rich choral music that transcends boundaries and speaks to the soul.
